Doce Pares Eskrima standards german version

Standards for all clubs and trainingsgroups
affiliated to the following Organizations:

Doce Pares Eskrima Club Berlin (established 1991)
German Eskrima Association / GEA (established 1992)
Authentic Eskrima Association / AEA (established 1999)


1. An Eskrima training unit takes at least 90 minutes.

2. An Eskrima training unit cannot take place intermixed with training in other martial arts or combat sports disciplines. During Eskrima training, nothing but Eskrima will be trained.

3. Eskrima sticks must be of rattan or hardwood and must not weigh less than 200 grams.

4. No kind of protective gear will be used while training eskrima and armed combat.*

5. Those who train Eskrima will wear normal sport shoes and dress, such as t-shirt and jogging pants. Training will not take place with persons wearing uniforms and colored belts like those used in Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, Ju Jutsu or similar disciplines.

6. No symbols of rank shall be worn while training Eskrima.

7. The minimum age for membership of the Authentic Eskrima Association and the German Eskrima Association as well as training Eskrima is 18 years.**

8. Eskrima training is only open to GEA/AEA members or guests with a confirmed appointment.

9. To be educated as trainer or instructor, you must have trained for at least one year in a GEA/AEA school or trainingsgroup and must be from 21 to 38 years old.

10. To be educated as a GEA/AEA trainer or instructor, you must already posess theoretical and practical experience in armed combat. You will further need to pass a test.

*If you are injured, you may be temporarely allowed to protect your injury for the sake of recovery.

**In some cases, students who are at least 16 years old will be allowed to participate if they pass a test and have their parents consent.
