The Authentic Eskrima Association -AEA is an independant international
MA organization. It was founded 1999 to maintain and spread the philipino
war arts.
The Authentic Eskrima Association evolved from the GEA - German
Eskrima Association that was founded 1992 in Berlin, Germany.
The AEA allows people to learn authentic filipino arts of war
by regular training, seminars, or personal instruction. The minimum age
is 16.
The AEA supports local groups with periodic lessons and ranking tests.
The AEA has a standardized training program. This program is focused on
the progress of the individual according to their abilities. At all seminars
and at the regular training the AEA head Uwe Schwarz gaurantees all members
individual training by qualified trainers.
At training and at seminars the theoretical understanding, historical backround
and the practical use of armed and unarmed combat will be taught.
As fights are not won by technique alone, the psychological aspects of combat
are an important part of training.
Since Eskrima was traditionally taught in normal street clothing, during
the AEA Eskrima training no special clothes are worn. AEA members wear a
t-shirt or sweatshirt with the AEA logo.
The AEA is recognized by the Doce Pares Eskrima Club, founded 1932 in Cebu
City, as representing an authentic filipino fighting and weapons art.
Qualified trainers
The AEA's standardized training and ranking concepts gaurantee
that only qualified persons will educate. All rankings will be done directly
by the head of the AEA.
The head of the AEA, Uwe Schwarz, is an internationally recognized teacher
of FMA. He learned Eskrima from experienced experts in the philipines, where
Eskrima originated, as well as in the USA and various European countries.
Uwe Schwarz traveled frequently to the Philipines and lived for
months in Cebu City, where Eskrima grand master Ciriaco 'Cacoy' Canete personally
taught him.
In the autumn of 1999, Cebu county governor Alfredo Garcia honoured
Mr. Schwarz for his efforts in maintaining and popularizing of the FMA.
On the basis of intensive studies and personal experience Mr.
Schwarz developed a systematic training program. Since 1992 the GEA and
since 1999 the AEA teach accordingly.
Mr Schwarz has over 15 years of experience in different fighting
arts. Since 1990 he teaches Eskrima and realistic fighting with weapons
as head of the GEA and the Doce Pares Eskrima Club Berlin, Germany.
On seminars in Denmark, Italy, Poland und Hungary Uwe Schwarz
introduced the GEA/AEA Eskrima training internationally.
